5 Minutes You Can’t Miss
I have been trying and failing for a long time. The only reason I succeed is because I continue to push forward. It is not easy but if it was easy everyone would do it.
So what’s up with the 5 minutes? To start improving yourself you don’t need to dedicate 2 hours a day to reading, writing, speaking or whatever else you want to improve upon. The method that works best for me is to schedule 5 minutes a day to find a quiet place with no distractions (turn off, Twitter, Cell Phone, IM, etc.) and give 5 solid minutes to my current wealth inducing habit.
Most people wouldn’t believe it but I am a chicken when it comes to picking up the phone or even starting a conversation at times. I can feel my face flush, my palms get sweaty and my mind rushes to find the best excuse not to do it. I started off by dedicating 5 minutes a day to picking up the phone and making calls for my business. Either prospective business partners or finding customers for my web design business I made a commitment to spend 5 minutes making calls. I have to admit I use to be relieved when no one answered. That was until I made myself start leaving messages.
The trick is, if you miss a day don’t try and make up for it the next day by doing 10 minutes. That is just 5 more minutes of sweating until you get comfortable with picking up the phone. If you keep adding up the minutes you will have 25 minutes by Saturday and you won’t be doing anything at all. If you miss a day just do 5 minutes the next.
No matter if you are making calls, writing or practicing your video skills you need to make it a daily practice. As it gets easier you can add more time but never force yourself into more than 5 minutes each day. Some days I do 5 minutes others I do 60 if I am on a roll and getting a lot of positive responses. The important part is getting off your butt or getting down on it and getting things done!
